In the first half of this year Tom de Groot, an intern at VZM Management Services, researched what MROs can learn from implementing significant regulation changes. This was his thesis project earning his Bachelor of Science degree at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
He interviewed eight European Airframe MROs, as well as authorities and an industry association to collect experiences with
implementing new regulations and the impact they had on the MRO business.
The thesis report summarizes the experiences with the implementation of SMS for MROs, revision of OJT requirements and introduction of Part-IS (Information Security). Based on the findings Tom made recommendations aimed at improving coordination, implementation, and communication regarding new regulation changes.
